Top Five Water Bottles for the Gym
Our Pick
ThermoFlask
#1
ThermoFlask
What you need to know:
ThermoFlask comes with two cap options: a straw and a sealable chug cap. Our team found the chug cap to be the best choice when using this bottle at the gym as it is easy to operate, fully seals the bottle and completely covers the mouthpiece from the surrounding environment. We liked how there is no risk of fingers coming into contact with the mouthpiece, especially in a world where we closely control the spread of germs.
What You Should Know
About Our Selection Process
Along with your membership pass and headphones, a water bottle is an essential item to bring along to the gym. Whether you’re headed to a cycling class or getting ready for some heavy squats, hydration is a key element for a successful workout and feeling great afterwards.
When it comes to hydrating at the gym, some bottles are better suited than others. Based on our extensive testing of dozens of bottles across a team of reviewers, we’ve found the following to be the most effective during gym sessions.Â
Specific details are called out for each bottle, but at a high level, the key consideration was the drinking mechanism. Bottles with removable caps proved to be clumsy and often resulted in having them dropped on the floor. We also carefully considered how a bottle was opened for drinking. For obvious reasons, we preferred bottles where the user’s fingers didn’t come in contact with parts that touched the mouth.
#2
Simple Modern Summit
What you need to know:
This is a great choice for the more trendy gym-goers who want to make a statement at the workout studio. We found Simple Modern to be both stylish and functional when paired with the twistable chug cap. With one full 360° revolution, the top comes loose and can be pulled away from the cap opening.
#3
Iron Flask
What you need to know:
A budget-friendly option that comes in a variety of sizes depending on your hydration needs. The straw cap of this bottle proved to be a great option for gym sessions as the retractable straw was long enough to keep fingers away from the edge of the mouthpiece.
#4
Takeya
What you need to know:
Another great option considering it’s chug cap design. The Takeya will provide full coverage of the mouthpiece and prevent contact with unwanted surfaces. Users will be able to unscrew the cap with two fingers, making it an easy experience to sip water between sets.Â
#5
EcoVessel Wave
What you need to know:
The EcoVessel Wave is a lightweight, portable bottle that provides users with 32oz. of hydration for a long gym workout. For most of our team members, this was more than enough water. The Wave is slender and also has a large handle which makes it easy to pick up and grip. The retractable straw is long enough to prevent fingers coming in contact with the parts that enter the mouth and can be flipped open with one finger.
